National History

alpha Kappa Delta Phi (aKDPhi) is an international Asian-interest sorority founded at the University of California, Berkeley in 1990. It was established by fourteen dedicated women who aimed to create a sisterhood that would provide Asian-American women with a supportive network and a platform for personal and academic growth. The founding sisters envisioned a sorority that would foster leadership, scholarship, service, and Asian American cultural awareness.

Since its inception, aKDPhi has expanded rapidly across North America, establishing chapters and associate chapters at numerous universities and colleges. The sorority is recognized for its commitment to philanthropy, particularly through its national partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research.

aKDPhi emphasizes its four pillars: sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, and service. The organization continues to promote Asian American awareness and cultural understanding, while also providing its members with opportunities for personal development, community service, and leadership.

The alpha Kappa Delta Phi (aKDPhi) chapter at UC Irvine was established in 1994. The chapter was founded by ten empowered women who aimed to create an Asian-interest sorority that would promote Asian American representation and support within the university community. These women laid the foundation for a sisterhood that upholds the core pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Sisterhood, and Asian American Awareness.

Since its inception, the UC Irvine chapter of aKDPhi has been dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where members can grow personally and academically. The sorority actively participates in various cultural, educational, and philanthropic activities, aligning with its mission to promote cultural awareness and community service. The chapter also collaborates with other student organizations and local entities to enhance its impact and reach within the Irvine community.

Through the years, the UC Irvine chapter of aKDPhi has remained committed to its values, continuously working to empower its members and make a positive difference both on campus and beyond. The chapter's dedication to service is evident in its participation in events such as the Susan G. Komen Orange County MORE THAN PINK Walk in Newport Beach, which supports breast cancer awareness and research
