Philanthropy: Breast Cancer Awareness𓍯𓂃
For over 20 years, alpha Kappa Delta Phi sisters have been dedicated to raising awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer. Through our efforts, we have donated over $1.1 million to support women and families impacted by this disease.
alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority, Inc. proudly promotes our national philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness. This project is dedicated to fundraising and increasing public knowledge about the early detection of breast cancer, the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. All proceeds from our breast cancer awareness events are donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF).
A new diagnosis of breast cancer occurs every two minutes in the U.S. In 2023, it is estimated that about 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the U.S., and about 43,700 women will die from the disease. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Early detection and improved treatments have led to a 40% decline in breast cancer deaths from 1989 to 2016.
We support breast cancer foundations like BCRF that aim to facilitate research collaborations to accelerate knowledge about the causes, diagnosis, treatments, and prevention of breast cancer. BCRF is the highest-rated breast cancer organization in the U.S., funding nearly 300 researchers at leading medical and academic institutions across 14 countries. We are committed to supporting efforts that ensure the best quality of care for all, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.
With service as one of our pillars, we are continually finding ways to volunteer and give back to the community. Our chapter actively participates in local Irvine events and collaborates with UCI’s student organizations and local businesses to maximize our impact and reach within the Irvine community. We also participate in the Susan G. Komen Orange County MORE THAN PINK Walk in Newport Beach, which is a significant local event supporting breast cancer awareness and research.
Thank you to all of our past sponsors for supporting our cause, and a big thank you to the sponsors who continue to do so! We could not have done it without you! If you are interested in becoming a sponsor for our philanthropic events or would like to volunteer, please contact us, and a representative will get back to you shortly.
